Introduction to the interviewer
Yang Beichen/
A representative artist in the field of Chinese contemporary realistic sculpture, he is currently a full-time associate professor at the Sculpture Department of the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts in China. Yang Beichen is good at creating super-realistic wood carvings that are visually indistinguishable from falsehoods with meticulous techniques and complicated coloring techniques. Most of his creative themes are taken from ordinary objects in his own or others' daily life, and through extremely slow reproduction, he profiles or records the stories and life memories of the people behind the objects.
Yang Beichen has long been immersed in carving techniques, wood materials and colors, and has developed an amazing realistic carving ability. Coupled with the feelings for life and life, beyond the media and techniques, the texture of time and memory in the works, and the way of expressing the contemporary context with classical techniques, make the "old" a new state, and also make it The creation has a strong appeal, and it can be appreciated by both the refined and the popular, and everyone can see things and think about people. His repeated reflections on the meaning and level of "realism" make his works break away from traditional woodcarving and create a special contemporary nature.
