Introduction
The scene usually refers to the place where specific events or behaviors take place. Liao Jianzhong's scene not only has no actual events, but also uses mimicry and superficial engineering techniques to make his works undiscoverable to some extent. How exactly does the artist play with the exhibition space and various machines? When we successfully explore the truth of the work, what changes will these objects bring to our accustomed aesthetic experience?
Liao Jianzhong's work handling techniques and selection of materials are simple and unpretentious, which contradict the rigid appearance and actual function of the equipment. The imitation of objects not only highlights the ambiguity of art space and the consciousness of objects, but also raises various issues such as viewing methods and artwork interpretation, and also radiates more social issue axes.
This lecture will invite curator Xu Yuanda (Assistant Professor of the Department of Art History, National Tainan University of the Arts) to have a conversation with Liao Jianzhong, to talk about the artist's creation and life experience, and to understand how a deception of objects collides with the audience's feeling habits and drives the follow-up. Mood swings.
